About

Hi, I'm Laura. After completing a PhD in Molecular Biology in 2013, I've spent a few years as a postdoc in a biomedical research centre in London.

These years as a research scientist sharpened my analytical thinking and taught me persistence. Plus, it gave me an extensive problem-solving experience! Along the way, I picked up communication skills, such as being able to present results in a clear and concise way.

I am now a data scientist with a particular interest in Machine Learning. Projects in my portfolio include detecting credit card fraud using Deep Learning, sentiment analysis of tweets about US airlines and even determining whether a mushroom is likely to be poisonous!

Always eager to learn new things, I spend a great deal of time on MOOCs. I am currently studying Bayesian methods for Machine Learning on Coursera.
